About Dr. Jennifer Huggins
Choosing a provider to work with you on your healing is a personal choice. If you’re going to choose me to help you on your healing path, then it’s important you know about me and my training.
I graduated magna cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara with my bachelor’s degree in psychology. With my background in psychology, I soon went on to receive both my Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. I continued on to advanced, post-doctoral training and completed my fellowship in Health Psychology at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. After my fellowship, I accepted a position at the Bay Area Pain and Wellness Center, a multidisciplinary pain clinic. Being a Southern California native, I decided to return home, and moved back to the area in 2012. At that time I began working with Kaiser Permanente, where I currently am also employed as a health and pain psychologist.
In addition to my daily work experience, I am always reading, researching, and attending advanced trainings, as I am committed to providing my clients with the best treatments available, and that includes cutting-edge knowledge and treatment methods. For example, I am currently in year two of a three-year core training program for Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). In addition, I am trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and am currently working on becoming EMDR certified in order to reach the highest degree of skill.
In addition to my work and continued training, I enjoy practicing yoga, am a dog-lover, and create balance in my life by spending time with my family and friends.
