The majority of chronic pain can be cured, but a minority of the population knows that.

The popular belief is that chronic pain can, at best, be managed, not cured. Coping with pain is often seen as the only option. My experience, personally and with the many clients I have worked with, has shown me that most chronic pain can be resolved, not just managed.

Having chronic pain creates great suffering, both physically and emotionally.

I know this both professionally, as I’ve worked with many clients with chronic pain, and personally, after having had my own chronic pain for almost 10 years. If you’ve suffered for years with chronic pain, have gone from doctor to doctor, with little long-term benefit, then you’re on the unnecessary medical merry-go-round so many of us find ourselves on. Depression, anxiety, and fear are prevalent experiences when living with chronic pain. All of which makes pain worse, leading to a cycle of chronic pain.

About Dr. Jennifer Huggins

“I graduated magna cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara with my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I soon went on to receive both my Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in Los Angeles. I continued on to advanced, post-doctoral training and completed my fellowship in Health Psychology at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. After completing my fellowship, I accepted a position at a functional restoration program (FRP) specializing in chronic pain management. Being a Southern California native, I decided to return home and moved back to the area in 2012. At that time, I began working with Kaiser Permanente, where I worked as a pain psychologist in the pain management department from 2012 to 2018. I am currently in private practice in West Los Angeles.”
